LOCATION: Vancouver, BC
WEATHER: Hot (but not TOO hot) and sunny; eventually turned overcast towards the end of the day
It seems reasonable to only blow all your cash (read: Mom and Dad's cash) every second day as opposed to every day, so we stuck around the RV park again today and did whatever the hell we pleased.
With potential beach plans for tomorrow, I decided to get a head start on the tanning so as not to blind everyone with my northern Ontario luminescence and spent most of the afternoon on the sundeck reading and jumping in the pool. Mom came to join me after awhile and the men did whatever it is men will do.
Mike a spent a good hour or so blind as a bat, as the arm of his glasses up and detached itself after they'd been driving him nuts for days, so Dad raced off to have them repaired while Mike felt his way around the campsite, placing his face inches from the computer and TV just to see what the hell was going on. But Dad to the rescue - they're good as new and Mike can return to watching TV from the comfort of the couch.
The Scrabble game that never was turned into what you see up there: a challenge to get as many vacation-related words as possible on the board, regardless of how many tiles we had to turn over in order to marker in the letter we were missing. I would like to take this opportunity to point out the horrible misfortune that is 'Beaula.' This was the first word Mom put down and it's incorrect spelling wasn't noticed until the entire thing had been completed. We tried to fix it but Mom's temporary derrr-ness was gonna end up in the blog anyway, so why bother!
After a deelish din of salmon, mashed taters, and some kinda pasta side dish, Dad and Mike took off on their bike and skateboard respectively while Mom and I took care of business cleaning up. Part of this business entailed a trip to the freshly emptied recycle bins, which turned into a spectacle for all the park to hear. I don't know if you've ever dropped 30 bottles (AA, heyyy!) into an empty dumpster, but she ain't a quiet activity. Mom roared with laughter while I tried to get it over with as fast as I possibly could. Proud moments.
Mom later went to do yet another load of laundry and discovered the 'leave-a-book, take-a-book' system they had going, taking it upon herself to take two and leave none and return later to leave one of the two she had just taken in turn for another. Not exactly what they had in mind, Mom, haha.
Tomorrow we venture out of the bushy confines of the park into civilization for some ocean-y goodness.
Letting the good times roll,

The first thing I noticed was the spelling of 'Beaula'. Beau-la works too. hah
ReplyDeleteI'll mail them some books from home. I can't give my books to them because my sisters haven't read them yet. lol
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jude, I appreciate that. L O freakin L, you just made me crack up big time.
ReplyDeleteLove, you know who!! xo
Some of those R's look a wee bit suspicious...
ReplyDeleteDetective Ruth spilled the beans.
ReplyDeleteDesperate times call for desperate measures. We ran out of good letters and we weren't done...it was fun making that board. Mike had challenged me to a game but then his eyesight went funky and we decided it more important for him to get his glasses fixed. There's a fixit shop here, who knew?? Thank God for that, only ten bucks.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Steph, Mike needs Lasik, it will be cheaper in the long run the way the man goes through them, poor fella!
ReplyDeleteThat's Auntie Detective Ruth to you, dear Tasty Toes!! lol xo
