START: Canyon Hot Springs Resort, Canyon Hot Springs, BC - 11:15 a.m.
STOP: Kamloops RV Park, Kamloops, BC - 5:45 p.m.
WEATHER: Overcast and drizzly; sunny, beautiful, and waaaaaaaaarm finally!
Steph: "Every day for Mike is like his first day on Earth." Honest to God. The noises of shock and awe that come out of him with every new experience are wonders in themselves to behold. But moving on...
We were on a one-track mission to hunt down a laundromat today, which is sad as it's only been - what? Four days since we did 1,400 loads of laundry at Sloan's? Regardless, we had acquired another mountain and seeing as it was $4 to wash and another arm and leg to dry at Canyon Hot Springs, we thought we'd just do as the locals do and hit one up downtown Revelstoke. Aaaaaaaaaand how do ya like that, the laundromat there was just as, if not more, expensive than the one at the RV park. Unfortunately, desperate times call for desperate measures, so we grinned and beared it and set up shop on the street out front until we were done. Mom befriended a couple who was also laundering at the time and who had connections to Timmins (it's a small world and stuff) and I got my blog on while Dad and Mike ran over a block to stock up on some groceries. Since we were going to be there awhile, we fired up the generator but apparently the neighbouring restaurant attendants didn't enjoy a side of fumes with their sandwiches. Take a step down off your high horses, folks. But roughly an hour and a half later, we were finally done and continued on in search of Kamloops.
We unfortunately had to bypass the Enchanted Forest (sorry Laroses!) due to Beuls's unwillingness to jam herself in amidst the sardine-like parking lot situation, but we did stop at Crazy Creek, which boasted a large suspension bridge hanging over a waterfall. Even though Mike was outraged by the entrance fees ("Nature should be free") and made it known that we "could've fed a child in Africa for 35 days" we still managed to con him into it. The lady even caved and let Mike and I pass as children. Not to mention, on the way out, Mike discovered a tree upon which people willingly stick their loose change (a wishing tree, if you will) in the sap and helped himself to two dimes and a nickel.
We eventually pulled into Kamloops RV Park and clearly did not understand the park map so Dad pulled a Jerry Jacqueline and just backed ol' Beula in wherever he saw fit, apparently taking up three sites until I realized where things had gone awry. So Paw put us right and then he and Mike set to work on hooking up the cable TV (97 channels - hooray!)
Steph: "Wrong cable?"
Mike: "We hope."
Dad: "I know."
Mike: "Bet you fifty cents."
Steph: "Woah, high stakes."
Mike: "What? I'll just give him all my sappy tree change.
Mom and I sat outside for awhile and enjoyed the finally beautiful weather while listening to (Mike:) "Jerry Jacque bang his rocks" (kid banging rocks on a picnic table, haha. Mom gave him two of the rocks she'd gathered on our journey. Kid running to his mom: "These are from Ontario!" Cute.) We then tried to go buy some RV TP at the office but found out it was closed after 6 p.m. but ol' Kenny the owner came zooming up on his golf cart to see what we needed.
Mom: "We were just going to buy some TP but we'll come back in the morning! We still have four rolls so that should be enough to get us through the night, haha."
Kenny: "Well, I hope so! Unless something goes wild!"
Mom: "Well, we did buy some hot sauce today!" Good grief.
So we spent the night having a few drinks and watching all 97 of the available channels and even made reservations (wooo, look at us planning ahead!) for an RV park in Vancouver for tomorrow night. Pacific Ocean here we coooome!
